Park Engineering
A member of the tooling division within the Hyde Group in the North of England, Park Engineering specializes in the design, manufacturing, assembly, and certification of tooling jigs, fixtures and large components for the aerospace, nuclear, defense and automotive sectors.
In day-to-day operation, the ALTERA M CMM supports the inspection of large parts with drawing tolerances of typically ± 50μm, but is sufficiently accurate to measure smaller parts down in the 10 μm region. Irrespective of tolerances, LK’s software application CAMIO with its user- friendly operator interface allows CNC programs to be generated either online or off-line for the inspection of batch quantities, further reducing inspection time and cost, especially when CAD models are available.
Quality Manager Will Reeves commented, “Across the broad spectrum of work packages, we have access to CAD models approximately 50-60% of the time, with the remainder being work to print. However, the provision of CAD models is something we are always encouraging our customers to provide, as it minimizes the risk of incorrect data being entered due to human error during the programming process.” He concluded, “LK’s CAMIO software also saves time by automatically generating comprehensive reports that we are able to send to our customers with inspected components. Cross Manufacturing
CMM controller Retrofit from LK Metrology enables multi-sensor inspection.
Two coordinate measuring machines built by LK Metrology in 1997 and 2007 for Cross Manufacturing, were upgraded by retrofitting multi-wired NMC300 controllers with updated firmware and software. Because of the scope of the project, two Renishaw PH10MQ probe heads were fitted to take advantage of the ability to deploy different types of sensors in addition to touch-trigger probes.
As a result of the improvements, the sealing design and manufacturing specialist has immediately gained the ability to use the Renishaw SP25M tactile scanning probe it has purchased, which it is hoped will cut metrology cycle times by at least one-third when implemented in early 2024.
