In plasma coatings a nano-scale polymer layer, 1/100th thickness of a human hair, is formed over the surface. It is a permanent coating, being bound to the material surface on an atomic scale
These coatings deliver two main categories of surface property: totally liquid repellent (water & oil), or totally immersible

Accuracy – LC15Dx accuracy similar to that of a touch probe however laser scanner does not suffer tip compensation problems of touch probe when measuring complex surfaces
Non contact – touching the surface coating during measurement it is not permitted
Productivity – automated CMM laser scanning more efficient than manual arm inspection, operators is now available for other tasks and duties during the inspection cycle
