CMM Applications Engineer

Job purpose

The Coordinate Measuring Machine Applications Engineer plays a key role in the successful implementation of our 3D metrology software and hardware products. The individual will be
utilizing his/her expert knowledge of these metrology products in all industries, including
automotive, aerospace, agriculture, medical, etc. to ensure successful system integrations.

 

Key areas of responsibility

  • Assist our customers with understanding and applying our Coordinate Measuring Machine hardware and software systems
  • Create Coordinate Measuring Machine programs for product demonstrations
  • Create Coordinate Measuring Machine programs for the measurement of various customer components
  • Provide technical support and training for customers and distributors

 

Ancillary responsibilities

  • Ability to quickly assess a problem/or customer issue and understand the urgency to the
    customer
  • Respond to all customer related software/applications support questions
  • Aid with software & system testing in support of product development
  • Dealer Support / Training
  • Trade Show Support
  • Teach in-house CMM software training classes
  • Teach on-site CMM software training classes

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a
    benefit)
  • The ability to understand Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts
  • The ability to understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willing to travel regularly (50%), mostly Monday – Friday

 

Experience and education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field)
  • 3-5 years technical work experience is preferred
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines and relevant software (CAMIO, CMM
    Manager, MODUS or Polyworks helpful)
